The community based rehabilitation program is being implemented among adult visually impaired people from Shivpuri Block of Shivpuri District.

The program focuses on:

• Training of visually impaired on Orientation and Mobility (O&M), and Daily

Living Skills (DLS)

• Joining the visually impaired with the various government schemes like: buss passes, blindness certificated, pension, and loan etc.

• Working with the community and sensitizing it on the issue of preventive eye care and social acceptability of visually impaired.

• Working with community health workers and, providing them with orientation on preventive eye care.

Activities:

• Trainings for VI people on O&M, and DLS.

• Organizing community eye health camps and school screening camps

• Getting blindness certificated issued for VI People.

• Trainings of ANM, School Teachers and community members.

• Referral to Shri Padam Sambhav Eye Hospital), for advance treatment and surgeries.

Achievements till now…..

• Formation of district disability forum.

• 120 clients issued blindness certificates, 53 issued bus passes.

• Training on O&M and DLS completed for 126 clients

• 166 adults and 26 children directly provided spectacles

• 456 Adults and 7 Children  refracted during outreach screening camps,

• 1066 cataract surgeries performed , including 5 children.
